Help & privacy
GridWhim helps you make profile text and visual designs. Here is what stays in your browser, what is sent to our servers, and how to keep your work.
Where are my images stored?
Grid planner, profile picture maker and thumbnail preview keep image copies in this browser for recovery. Grid and profile-picture crops and downloads happen here. Choosing to save a grid or profile picture on GridWhim sends private image copies and your project settings to GridWhim’s servers. Thumbnail preview keeps its images in the browser.
Carousel and thumbnail makers upload an image as soon as you add it. GridWhim removes original metadata from the stored copy. These makers also send scene text and layout to our servers for preview and export. Browser recovery keeps the editable layout here; it is separate from a saved server project.
An uploaded image is only served back to the browser session that uploaded it. One browser session can hold up to 30 saved projects and 60 uploaded images, and each image can be up to 12 MB. The font generator and the text formatter work on your text in the browser and do not upload it.
Can I reopen a project on another device?
No. Saved projects use this browser’s session cookie. They are not attached to an account that you can sign in to on another device. A project link alone does not give another browser access.
Clearing the session cookie removes access to the server copies, even inside the seven days. The same happens when you close a private window, or when your browser is set to discard session cookies on exit. To move a design or keep it for longer, download a backup first.
What happens after seven days?
Uploaded images expire seven days after upload. Saving a project sets its expiry to seven days from that save and refreshes the expiry of images it uses. Export and AI jobs expire seven days after they start; saving a project does not extend old export or AI jobs.
Expired server items stop being available and are removed by background cleanup. Nothing is kept on GridWhim’s servers permanently. Browser recovery copies and files you have downloaded are separate. Download your exports, editable design and original images before server expiry.
What goes to the AI provider?
DeepSeek is used only when you choose Draft three bios in the bio generator. The request sends your facts, audience, purpose, tone, language and length setting through GridWhim to DeepSeek. Send only information you are comfortable sharing. Your images and designs are not sent to DeepSeek.
GridWhim stores the submitted request and returned drafts in a private server job for seven days. Submitted inputs, returned drafts and active job details are also kept in this browser for recovery. Saving a draft stores that draft and its source inputs as a project. Check each draft against your facts before using it. GridWhim’s seven-day expiry describes our server copies, not DeepSeek’s retention.
How do I delete a project?
Open Saved projects in the browser that saved it and choose Delete project. This removes the server project, its saved versions, linked exports and images that no other saved project uses. Images used by another saved project remain.
Browser recovery copies need to be cleared separately. Use the Clear control in the grid planner, the profile picture maker, the thumbnail preview or the bio generator. Cancel an active bio job before clearing its browser drafts. For other browser recovery data, use your browser’s site-data controls; these can also clear the session cookie. Deleting a project does not erase separate AI jobs or information already sent to DeepSeek.
What usage information is recorded?
GridWhim loads no third-party analytics or advertising scripts. It sets one cookie, which holds a random identifier for your browser session and a security token for the site’s forms.
Usage records cover accepted uploads, saved projects, completed jobs and served export downloads. They can include a browser-session identifier, a time, image dimensions, job attempts and AI token counts. These usage records do not contain your text, images or generated bios.
On the font generator, text formatter and bio generator, GridWhim also counts page opens, a first text entry, successful copies, refused clipboard copies and started text downloads. These counts use only tool, style and language identifiers, never the text you typed or copied. Like the other usage records, they are linked to this browser’s session and are removed after 30 days. The thumbnail preview tool sends no usage counts.
Usage records are removed after 30 days by background cleanup. Content needed to make a project or run a job is stored separately under the seven-day rules above.
How do I back up a design and open it again?
In the carousel or thumbnail maker, choose Download editable JSON. A carousel export ZIP also contains the editable scene. The Saved projects page has a Download JSON button for each project. Keep that file, your finished exports and the original images somewhere you can find them. A finished PNG or JPG does not contain the editable layers.
While the server copy lasts, Reopen on the Saved projects page returns you to the editor in the same browser.
To continue a carousel or thumbnail design after its server copy has expired, or in another browser, use Open a saved design in the same type of maker and choose a file you downloaded earlier. Download backup ZIP includes the images you uploaded, up to 20 images and 16 MB, and restores them as new private copies with a fresh seven-day expiry. Download editable JSON and the export ZIP keep the layout and text only: designs using template text and shapes reopen fully, and any uploaded image is shown as an image to re-add before you can export. Opening a file does not save it as a project. Grid plans, profile pictures and bios cannot be reopened from a file.
How do I report a broken export?
First read the message shown with the export. If it says an image is missing or expired, add the image again and export once more. If it asks you to wait, one browser session can run up to three jobs at a time; start again when they finish.
